Alumni Endowed Awards
At NIT Rourkela, students who shine through their exceptional achievements in academics, research, innovation, leadership, and service are honoured with prestigious
Endowment Awards during the Convocation Ceremony. These awards are more than just recognition, they carry the legacy of generosity and belief in excellence. Each endowment
originates from a heartfelt contribution made by alumni, faculty, or well-wishers of the institute. These donations, whether in the form of money or assets like stocks,
become part of the institute’s Endowment Fund. The following honors are conferred under the Alumni Endowment Awards:
1. Siladitya Pattnaik Award : Established in memory of Late Siladitya Pattnaik, an alumnus of the 2008 Electrical Engineering batch, this award honors the best
student of Electrical Engineering for outstanding academic excellence. This award was conferred upon Ms. Vidushi Tandon in recognition of her achievements when she
graduated with the Class of 2025.
2. Prof. Ramesh Chandra Behera Gold Medal Award : Instituted by Smt. Sasmita Behera in memory of her husband, Prof. Ramesh Chandra Behera (Batch of 1969, Metallurgical
and Materials Engineering), this medal celebrates exceptional academic achievement and is awarded to the overall M.Tech topper. It was presented to the overall M.Tech.
topper of the institute during 22nd annual convocation. Ms. Barsa Barnalli Das, specializing in Power Systems Engineering, was conferred with this medal.
3. Dr. Bansidhar Panda Gold Medal Award : Endowed by the late Dr. Bansidhar Panda, founder of IMFA Group, this award recognizes the topper of the Metallurgical
and Materials Engineering Department for outstanding performance. It was awarded to Swayansha Routray, during the 22nd annual convocation of NITR. She was also honoured
with the Saurav Rajan Kar Memorial Award for the best graduate of the institute, the Bunty Memorial Award for the best engineering graduate, and the Prof. Ashok Kumar Mohanty
Award for the best all-rounder in Metallurgical and Materials Engineering.
4. Shri Kamakshi Prasad Panda Gold Medal : Created by Smt. Sandhya Rani in memory of her husband, an alumnus of the 1974 Electrical batch, this award honors the
Best Graduate of the Electrical Engineering Department.It was awarded to Mr. Himanshu Sinha, during the 22nd annual convocation of NITR.
5. 1970 Batch Alumni Gold Medal : Contributed by the NITRAA-70 alumni group, this medal is presented to the best all-round girl student of the final year B.Tech
program, promoting holistic growth and alumni spirit. During the 22nd convocation, it was presented to Ms. Dibyani Sahu, from the department of Mechanical Engineering,
in recognition of her hard work, dedication and exceptional achievements. My entire college journey was about juggling multiple responsibilities and passions at once.
This award feels like a celebration of every success, hardship, and moment of determination along the way - a tribute to the relentless will to keep striving for more.

6. Prof. Amrit Kumar Paul Memorial Award for Best Student Research Scholar : Instituted by NITRAA and endowed by Sri Sonjit Paul in memory of his father, one of
REC Rourkela’s longest-serving professors, this award honours the best Ph.D. scholar across all disciplines - a true mark of research brilliance. During the 22nd Annual
Convocation. It was awarded to Srajan Dalela from the Department of Mechanical Engineering, who received a certificate and a cash prize of ₹1,00,000.
7. Saurav Ranjan Kar Memorial Award This prestigious institute-level medal is awarded to the single best graduate of the batch, recognizing exceptional academic
excellence and an impeccable record throughout the course.
8. Bunty Memorial Award : An institute-level honor for engineering students, this award celebrates the undergraduate with the highest academic distinction -
a symbol of dedication and scholarly excellence.
