Shri Ashok Kumar Basa completed his B.Sc. Engineering in Civil Engineering from NIT Rourkela in 1980. He has a distinguished career in engineering, holding key roles in both national and International level. He started as an Assistant Engineer with the Government of Odisha in 1981 before assuming leadership positions in the private sector. He served as Director (Technical) at B. Engineers & Builders Ltd since 1984 and is currently the Managing Director at CEM Engineers & Consultants Pvt. Ltd since 2011. He is a key member of the Finance Committee and Executive Board of the World Federation of Engineering Organizations (WFEO). His leadership extends to multiple prestigious positions, including serving as the President of the Institution of Engineers (India) in 2014 and Executive Vice President of World Federation of Engineering Organizations for the period 2021-2025. Notably, he became the first Indian to Chair the WFEO Strategic Planning Committee, where he played a pivotal role in shaping the organization's plan for 2022-2025. He was deeply involved in revising the WFEO Code of Ethics in 2023, adapting it to modern challenges such as the rise of AI. He was appointed Chairman of the IPEA Committee by the International Engineering Alliance (IEA) in 2017-2018. His excellence in engineering and research has earned him numerous accolades, including the S.B. Joshi Memorial Award for Structural Engineering, two Indian Roads Congress Medals for best papers in construction, and the S.V. Srinivasan Memorial Gold Medal for Bridge Engineering. Currently he is the Member of the Bridge Standards Specifications Committee (the Apex Committee for bridge engineering in the country), member of different committees of BIS, besides being the Member of the Technical Committee for Conservation of Ratna Bhandar of Shri Jagannath Temple , Puri.
