Dr. Bharatendu Deo

Dr. Bharatendu Deo completed his B.Sc. Engineering in Electrical Engineering from NIT Rourkela in 1985. He holds an MBA Degree from, Strathclyde University, Glassgow, UK in 2002 and Ph.D degree in Industrial Management from University of Southern Queensland, Australia. He started his professional career as a Graduate Engineer Trainee (GET) in NALCO in 1985 and later joined as an Electrical Technical Engineer in Aluminium Bahrain in 1992. He later joined Qatargas in 1995 as Senior Electrical Engineer and rose through the ranks and is working as Head of Electrical, Qatar Energy LNG (formerly Qatargas) North Field Expansion Project since 2018. He has collaborated with major global companies like Chiyoda Corporation (Japan), Technip Energies (Paris), ExxonMobil (USA), Shell, ConocoPhillips and Total (France), heading teams for large-scale operations, including coal-fired, gas-fired, and combined cycle power plants, LNG plants as well as carbon sequestration and re-injection Projects. He has supported more than 35 students of NIT Rourkela through endowment scholarships instituted in memory of his family members. In addition, he has extended generous contributions to fellow alumni and students in need. He is very closely involved with the sustainable NITR Campus initiative of the Institute. He was instrumental in establishing the Qatar Chapter of NITRAAA in 2007 and was its Founding President. He is the recipient of several awards and accolades that include Letter of appreciation from Ambassador of Qatar for his contribution towards National Causes, Outstanding Achievement Award for special contribution to the Qatar Energy LNG in 2000 and 2013, Outstanding Contribution Award from Qatar Foundation in 2001. He has received awards from various National Organizations for his large-scale venture in Organic Coffee and Black Pepper cultivation in Koraput. He has also contributed towards development of Brand NIT image in Middle East through Pan-NIT Forums.
