Shri Subrat Pani after completing his B.E. in Electrical Engineering joined SAIl- Rourkela Steel Plant as a graduate engineer trainee. He completed his PGDM (Marketing & Behavioral Science) from IIM Calcutta in 1995. He worked as Area Sales Manager in Godrej GE Appliances from 1995-1997 and as Franchisee Manager RUF & TUF Ready-made Jeans, Arvind Mills, from 1997-1999. He then joined the banking sector and played impactful roles in SBI card (1999- 2002), ICICI Credit card (2002-07) propelling it to number 1 (from # 5) , and Kotak Mahindra Bank. (2007-11) setting up a new cards business. In 2011, Subrat co-founded OneAssist, an Insurtech platform that has redefined how Indian consumers protect and manage their digital and physical assets. Today it is recognized as India’s leading insurtech player, offering device protection, wallet protection, and digital risk solutions. Under his leadership, OneAssist has grown 9X from 2 million to 18 million customers in last 5 years. As a start up the company has scaled up successfully with a sustainable and profitable operation. He has led the company through the unchartered path and uncertain times with a focus on delivering both - growth and profitability. Subrat’s ability to forge strategic partnerships with larger retailers, banks, NBFC, Fintechs & insurance companies has led to the stellar performance on profitable growth. Now, the company is scaling up for an IPO in the near future. His passion for excellence and Customer First ethos have made OneAssist highest-rated device protection program in India, with 60,000+ Google reviews at 4.7/5. OneAssist was recognised as the Most Admired Brand in the category -2025 by customers. Shri. Pani has been a start-up community builder contributing immensely as a coach, mentor and angel investor to early-stage founders. Subrat is a Mentor with IIM CALCUTTA start up incubator (IIMCIP) since 2016, Catapult (Mahindra Logistics Startup incubator) , Conquest (BITS Pilani Start up Accelerator). He is the Chief Organizer of Clarion Call (Flagship startup event of IIM Calcutta Alumni Association, Mumbai). He has been associated with 8 startups as angel investor guiding them in their journey. He is an active member of India InsurTech Association and IIM Calcutta Alumni Associations (Mumbai) shaping entrepreneurship and Insurtech landscape. His contributions earned him several accolades, including GE’s Global Pinnacle Award (2001-2002) and Product of the Year (2009) for Kotak Credit Cards. Utkal Gaurav Samman by Mumbai Odia Samaj (MOS) for his excellence in corporate life in 2011, SHRIE Awards in the field of Entrepreneurship by Parichay Foundation for emerging Odiya Entrepreneur in 2018. Under his leadership, OneAssist Technology won CIO 100 award for 5 years ( 2018, 2019, 2021, 2023,2025).
